I recently had the pleasure of doing projection design for Gustav Holst’s The Planets. The Butler Symphony Orchestra had it scheduled for a while and the conductor, Richard Auldon Clark, and I sort of joked about doing “some projection”. One thing led to another and whadda ya know- we did it. I thought that projecting [...] I know…very exciting. I have been trying to upgrade the home theater computer but I ran into a few stumbling blocks. I ordered a GB of RAM, an AGP video card, and a huge hard drive for relatively cheap. The video card would not get recognized by the motherboard, the RAM displaced one slot, so [...] We have entered the 21st century and bought a video camera. It is actually our Christmas present to each other, but the reason is simplicity. We had a camcorder that we bought before Olivia was born, so it’s a bit outdated. Plus- digitizing all the tapes is a pain. It’s a surprisingly common problem. The [...] The new Sigma lens is ALRIGHT! As proven by the following snaps. We went to see our friend’s new baby, Cole, and it was a prime opportunity to test. Plus, you can’t beat seeing a new baby! Bookmark It This time around it was a Sigma 18-50mm f1:3.5-5.6 HSM prime lens. Autofocus or manual, high-speed motor. Comes with both caps and a UV shield. Free shipping. $66! A steal to be sure. The 70-300mm is just too big for any use other than sports or serious macro photography. This lens is pretty close to [...] We went to the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art yesterday. Actually, Olivia, Ivan, Julie and her mom went and I met them after work. They were there for “Kaya” day…one of the American Girl dolls fashioned after an American Indian. Big fun though…lots of activities to do and things to color. Olivia [...] One of the coolest things about Google (as if it could get any cooler) is Google Calendar. I’ve been a steady user for a couple of years now (and, admittedly, I’m a Google fan…hard to tell, I know…) but now they’ve enabled sync with iPhone, iCal+Sunbird, Outlook, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry. The most interesting to [...] This week was pretty uneventful as far as weeks go. We had the Mid Winter Ballet and it’s generally calm around the hall. I took care of stage left and that involves changing gels in the booms when required, turning on the hazer, sweeping/mopping,etc. We also hung the Dali drop. The Butler Ballet owns a [...] |
